Richard A. Cooter
Dr. Cooter, a licensed clinical psychologist and attorney, has been the Director of the Forensic Psychology program at GW since its creation in 2012. He graduated from Georgetown University Law Center where he was an editor of the Georgetown Law Journal and practiced law for 25 years before receiving his doctorate in clinical psychology from GW in 2004. He performs psychological evaluations for the courts, and he regularly represents individuals who are the subject of involuntary commitment proceedings. He has taught forensic psychology at the graduate level since 2007.
